Is there anyone that can fix the crummy trigger on one of these? For an expensive gun it has a really gritty, creepy trigger.

I handled one Friday at a gun shop and thought the same thing.

Browning really dropped the ball on this one. I'm hoping there is a reasonable fix, if not I will be getting rid of the one I have.

It sounds like it is new. They have never been known for crisp triggers but if you put a couple hundred rounds downrange it improves a lot.

Yes it is even though I've had it 3 years it probably has about 100 rounds through it just because I don't like the trigger.

My 1981 BLR81 really likes the Lee 113 fp and small charges of Unique. I would run a couple hundred rounds downrange and see if the trigger improves. Cost of lead, powder, primers and gc could not be over $10.

Is it like a Browning BPCR? Aluminum trigger with a hunk of steel stuck in it? I made my own trigger from tool steel. I don't know the BLR.

My buddy has a Jap made BLR in .308 that is a great shooter. I didn't know there were some with problems.

I have a 1970s rifle. No crisp trigger pull, but a 1/2 moa shooter. I got used to that trigger and it brought home the bacon for over 30 years!

Neil Jones in Pa, is the person I would send it to. He does trigger jobs on Remington's and Browning BLR's. Has a website. In addition to trigger work he makes bench rest quality dies and powder measures.

Rick B, do you have contact info for Neil Jones? I have a BLR that needs work and there aren't a lot of people that know them.

Google Browning BLR Trigger his website will appear (Gun Smith Service) has a page on Rem and Browning BLR trigger work.
Until you have seen a set of his arbor press dies or used one of his powder measures, there a work of art.

I had a nice early Belgium 308 I regret selling. Trigger was not best, but the gun was accurate and an easy carry.

I have an early 90's BLR in .308 WCF. It has a crisp but heavy trigger similar to a Marlin. I'm planning to develop loads that are something like a hot rod .30-30, 150-170 grain boolit at around 2300 fps. I'm thinking a faster powder like Reloder 7, 4198, or XBR 8208 would be ideal due to the larger case capacity. Anybody turn their BLR into a dedicated boolit shooter?

I bought a BLR 358Win last March. The trigger gets better with use and lubrication.

Over the course of this past summer Neil did trigger job's on all three of my BLR's. I am very pleased with the quality of his work. Do not own a trigger pull scale gauge but my best guess is the triggers now break at about 3.5 pounds with just a tiny, and I mean tiny, bit of creep. His turnaround time was about 1 month on each BLR.

Cost was $120 per rifle plus shipping both ways. Money well spent.
