Well I think I found a load for my 30/30. 26gr Reloader 7. 173 grn 311041.
shot at 50 yds. Now to stretch it too 100. First two shots where the shooter fault.

I was using IMR 3031 until I ran out.... with the Lee 160 gr cast or the ranch dog 170 gr t/l flat nose..

I like 3031, but RL 7 works well in many applications. RL 10 is never discussed, but it is a sleeper.

She shoots good. The target is turned to the left, but all rounds hit 3 inches high at 50. I'm going to set the sight so it's 1 " high at 50 and see how it does at 100. I've got another load for a 155grn HP but it likes W748, shoots damn near as well. Bought this little Marlin at a pawn shop for 150. It's a 1972 there abouts, but shoots great.

You might find that 3" high at 50 will fall right in there at a hundred. I've been shooting RL 7 for years using a 180 RNFP RCBS in my 1925 Winchester.

Thanks, gonna give it a try this evening, without moving the sights

I've used RL7 in my .30-30s for years. My favorite load is 27 grains behind a 150GCFN, 2190fps and shoots into about a ¾" @ 100 from my 26" heavy barreled mdl 94. Shoots well in all my mdl 94s from 16" Trappers, 20" carbines, to the aforementioned rifle and others of the same bbl length.
