Hi friends, don't know if here is the correct place or the gunsmithing subforum.

I got an itch to try my hand at a homemade muzzleloader pistol, found a nice section of free .36 steel tube, and that would make a decent smoothbore barrel. Main use would be cheap plinking in the countryside where a friend has a small, hidden place, where we can shoot without being disturbed (i'm in brazil and all things firearms here are horrible due to gun control laws).

Did some searching and researching and found the plans for the JACO horse pistol, but I can't figure how to build the lock. :???:

Also found another forum where a member built one and roughly I can understand how the lock works, but I'm a loser at "guesstimating" dimensions. The building seems to be quite simple, but the dimensions are enerving me...

I would be more than happy and grateful if someone could provide me a link or a very cheap source of life size lock plans (best if free as in free beer).

Thanks in advance.

Thanks! I think the western pistol will do! Cutting and gluing the parts on steel will probably make it. Thanks!

See if you can get a copy of Colin Stolzer's book on making a homemade lock. It's inexpensive and makes up into a nice percussion lock.

Making an underhammer "double action" with no lock at all works well also for a fun pistol. Been wanting to make a 12ga. shorty type pistol like that for some time now, super simple to stick in your pocket.
