I been messing around with my 760 and noticed when the clip is in it pumps with more effort than with out clip. I noticed the notch on clip that fits into clip release is holding the clip up hard against bolt. I started slowly relieving metal off top of clip notch and that lowered the clip taking pressure off the bolt. It pumps easier and still feeds perfect. Not recommending every body go do this but my wandering mind got me to wandering and this is what I did.

I was unaware the Remington 760 used "clips".

Sounds like a better choice than relieving the top of the clip itself, to reduce interferance with the bolt!

My 760 did the same thing. After it had been opened and closed about 50 times it wore down the top edges of the feed lips. After that it was much smoother operating.

Good work tuning up the magazine.

Before the internet we all called magazines clips. Damn you Al Gore! Best, Thomas.

On some rifles semi autos the clip tension is there on the bolt to slow regulate bolt speed closing force also. On the 760 this shouldnt be an issue. The only issue may be with the lowered magazine and a weak spring it may start to miss the last round occasionally. Lot of times mags can be adjusted due to the stack up of manufacturing tolerences in firearms.

There was some copy on one of the gun sites from during the 1911 trials where the term clip is used instead of mag.

I was always the magazine is a part of the gun and none removable. The container used to insert bullets in the receiver is a clip. But I have been told a lot of wacky things like if wifey drinks orange juice each morn she won't get pregnant!!

A clip is a device used to hold cartridges before inserting them into the firearm's magazine. In Nam we used stripper clips to load the magazine, which was then inserted into the M-16's magazine well.
