I recently was given a 77A 12 ga that has the stock broken off. I do not have the stock. The gun is pretty worn and rusty, and I don't want to spend any money on it.

Any ideas on how to repair this? I haven't found one used and Numrechs has them but they are $55. I am thinking of just making a pistol grip or modifying one to fit and throw it under the bed for a little insurance.

What do you guys think?

.

The pistol grip would work best for you, as long as the barrel is at least 18" long and the OAL will be 26" or more (to stay legal w/o paying a $200 BATF fee for an SBS).

Long time ago I bought the military unfinished blanks for 77 from Numrich, they rang me like $5 a pop. They had to be sanded down of course, but for the price!
They were a whole inch shorter than the civilian stocks as well. All 3 types they used to have are now sold out.
Boyds sells a finished stock for $60 and theirs are nice.

One option is to design your own pistol grip and have it 3D printed.

I think I will make my own, I am a bodyman and have woodworking skills. Might take a little bit, but cost should be low!

That trigger guard /stock mount casting is the worst feature of that model. From your photo it looks like you have a ring to JB Weld a stock mounting nut to then rig a stock tothat. I have a Noble pump broken worse than yours so I'll just sell it to GPC. Not even close to worth fixing. Good luck! Best, Thomas.
