Have a Trails End Model 94 in 25-35 Winchester with the 1:8 twist and have not been able to find a decent load for 117 grain jacketed or comparable. Latest group of test loads waiting to go down range are loaded with H4227.
On that theme has anybody had any success with pistol powders in this cartridge. The best luck I have had so far is a 1.5 inch group with the NEI #23 loaded with H4227. This is the best group I have shot with this rifle and I just believe it can do better. H335 and H4895 have been disappointing in this rifle.

Try IMR 4320, 3031, or H322. Hope you get it going. Best, Thomas.

Hey there 264WM -- You might consider trying some 2400. My 25-36Marlin adores the stuff. They are very similar cartridges. Actually Winchester made some minor changes to Marlin/UMC's design and called theirs the 25-35!

This is a load test target. I made the mistake of looking after the first two shots and subconsciously changed my point of aim from the bottom of the diamond to the two holes. The third shot went just that much high!! Ruint a start on some fine refrigerator art!!

That load works pretty good out a little further...

NOE has come out with the perfect mold for your rifle. It's a combination of the Lyman 257231 and 257325 molds. They look kinda like this...

177618

You might consider them if you are a caster. No real need for jacketed bullets.

Hope this helps. It's a great cartridge and shoots like a million bucks out of my 124 year old Marlin. Might just take a little sorting out...

177620

Best regards. Wind

Have tried IMR3031 with jacketed but not cast. Have a suggested load to get me in the 1600 range with a cast bullet?

Excellent shooting and information Wind! Don't have any 2400 on the shelf but do have H110 and aforementioned H4227. After looking up the burn rates of the powders I was thinking about they are way faster than 2400 so most likely non-starters.

Interesting loads Outpost75. Especially interested in the IMR4227 and Bullseye loads. I think I have some of those RCBS bullets and was looking at some Green Dot. Thoughts?

In .30 cal. rifle small game loads Bullseye data can be used with Green Dot without getting into trouble, velocity will be a bit lower. Cautiously increase the Green Dot charge to get best accuracy, but not more than about 10% over the Bullseye charge, to be cautious.

Outpost75,
Your Bullseye load gave you 1087fps from a longer barrel than mine so I am going to run some information through Quickload using Green Dot and see what I come up with. Looking for a mild but accurate plinking load. Hopefully it starts cooling off around here so I can start doing load development.
