Rapidly evolving situation. Not clear at this point if terrorism or not. Shooter in parking lot of mall shooting at motorists. Black man with a revolver is what was reported a 0625.

Witnesses are reporting much more gun shots than a revolver would indicate.

Shooter is dead.

HOUSTON - Houston Police say an active shooter opened fire on moving traffic north of West University early Monday.

The Houston Fire Department confirms that six people were taken to the hospital with various injuries, but the extent of the injuries is not yet known.
Several vehicles parked near the scene had bullet holes and busted windows. The injured patients were said to be drivers or passengers in the vehicles that were struck.
Police and firefighters responded to Weslayan near Bissonnet at about 6:30 a.m. after reports of a shooting victim. That's when authorities discovered there was still an active shooter situation with multiple victims.
Police tracked down and "engaged" with the shooter, who was eventually "naturalized," HFD said.
Authorities say the scene is secure but have not yet confirmed if the suspect is dead or alive.
Several ambulances and other emergency vehicles responded to the Randalls grocery store shopping center shortly before 7 a.m. Bellaire, West University and HFD worked together to take the victims to the hospital.
There are unconfirmed reports the suspect was hiding behind a tree when an officer took him or her down. The suspect's vehicle was located near The Oaks condominiums on Law Street, which remained locked down as of 8:10 a.m.
There are no reports that multiple suspects were involved in the incident, police confirm.
Roads in the area remained blocked off at this time. Avoid Weslayan between Westpark and Bissonnet until further notice.

They are now reporting 9 hurt. The shooter was a "disgruntled lawyer" and a Texas CHL holder. His last name is DeSai and he is not black.
