I'm looking to rebuild a 2071 scale (needle stuck at 34lbs) and I'm not familiar with these scales at all. I was hoping that somebody here has a source for a owners manual or an adjustment guide so I can get her going again. It looks like it's in ok shape, the inner fulcrum looks to be off track and I assume that's why it's not working. The glass and all the needles are fine so I'm assuming it just needs put back in working condition.

Googling didn't turn up any manuals, but it did turn up a four year old news article by the Toledo Blade about two men that rebuilt and refurbished Toledo scales. Depending on how far you want to pursue your goal, you might contact the writer and see if she has contact information for the two men.

It would be interesting to see before and after pictures of your project.

I'll get some pics up. I think this is going to be a little more detailed than I thought.

177311177312 iPhone took it upside down.

The scale has a couple broken tension straps but not much else. I'll probably buy a adjustment manual as it seems they aren't a common hobby.

If my old man was still alive, he could tell you. He was a service tech for almost 30 years. I grew up with toledo scales being worked on in our garage. These things always brings back memories. Good luck with your quest.

Have you memories of the scales you could put a penny into and receive your weight along with a fortune?

I tried it once and the little ticket it spat out said..."One at a time please!"

I do remember those on our little towns main street. I also remember when they went from mechanical to electronic. My dad would test them out by having the scale "count" my pennies from my piggy bank.

When I worked at cCampbells soups we had 2-3 older gents who rebuilt and calibrated the scales used in production most were Toledo scales and floor models from 100lbs to 500lbs. Some of htese scales had been in use since the plant had opened in the late 50s. A fine piece of equipment you have
