my dad died this week in a car crash he was 77 I will miss him a lot but he is gone to be with mom happy hunting an fishing dad

Wow. Losing your Dad is ... I don't have the words. Lost mine in '91 at age 78, and still miss him. I was SO lucky to have had him as my Dad. But the good ones in our lives never really leave us. I can still feel him glaring at me sometimes, as if saying, "OK boy. Are ya' gonna' control it or let it control you?" He'll be with me always, just like Mom and a few others. We DO have guardian angels, I think. Dad's one of mine.

Good to see someone seeing it in its rightful perspective. Even the good ones in our lives can't be forever, and we should be much more thankful we had them at all, than sorrowful we couldn't keep them forever. But we'll always miss the really great ones in our lives, and can never repay them for what all they did for us. It's a little like what Christ did for us, giving so much for us when we could do so little on our own! Praise God for the great ones in our lives. Not everybody gets a good Dad.

Father please bring comfort to usmc1963 and his family. The loss of a father is terrible but You can lessen that pain and bring the strength to them to overcome their loss. Father, I give you all the praise. AMEN

Lost mine 21-1/2 yrs ago. Even though we weren't close, he was a gunsmith and had done a bit of machinist work, which I also ended up doing. I think of him often.

Even though the good Lord decided your mom needed him with her, trust me, you'll never feel disconnected from him.

It's always so hard when they leave us , there is never a good time . But they go home to our Lord .

We too will achieve victory over this life at some point and be with them once more . It's a temporary separation . Till then we have the beautiful memories they gifted us with .

Sorry to hear of your loss. My father passed away in 2000. Even though he had been ill for sometime, we're never really ready for them to go.

And now, 16 years later I still wish there were times I could pick up the phone and ask "Dad, what do I do now?". His teachings will be with you for the rest of your life, treasure them. Seems like there isn't a week goes by I don't recall something my father told me long ago. His lessons on life have served me well, and will until the day I join him in heaven.

I'm sorry for the loss of your Dad. I lost mine in 2003 and I miss him a lot and I regret not having spent more time with him. It would seem like you spent a lot of quality time with him. Cherish the memories. Don't take this wrong but sometimes its a blessing for them to go when they are younger and they don't continue on the downhill spiral. Its heart breaking to watch them regress every year and go to the point where they no longer enjoy hunting and fishing for example.
