Remington Model 11 fiber recoil buffer

Has anyone here replaced the fiber recoil buffer on a Remington Model 11? I have the buffers and the rivets ( 20 ga & 12 ga), but it might be beyond me. Does anyone know a gunsmith that might do it?

If you use a high-grade adhesive (like a $12 tube of aviation-grade Hy-Sol) to glue the buffer in place, it'll most likely last your lifetime, if not that of the gun. [smilie=2:

I was thinking of using an adhesive. The old buffers and rivets are still in place - I was wondering if I could slip the new buffer right over the old rivet and use the epoxy.

I'd R&R the old parts - doubling up the buffer might cause FTF's due to the barrel recoiling a shorter distance than with a single buffer.

I'd remove the old buffer first, then see if I could slide the new one over the rivet and epoxy it in place. It sounds too easy to work. The old buffers don't look too bad, but they are old. Neither the bolt or the receiver are cracked from recoil, so maybe the buffers are still doing their job.

Which side of the buffer faces the rear of the receiver? I am going to try an adhesive rather than attempt to remove the flattened remains of the old rivet. I will dremel what remains of the old rivet flush with the inside of the receiver.
