For a future project, is there any preference in purchasing .303 British brass rather than .30-40 Krag to form .38-50 Rem Hep, provided that both are available at a "reasonable" price? Is .303 British different than .303 Savage? Thank you.

No idea on the .38-50, but yes there is a difference between the .303 British and the .303 Savage.

The .303 British cases will be a little bit short for .38-50.
The .303 Savage is a completely different critter and is unfit for any use for the .38-50.
