I'm in Putnam County NY, 45 miles North of the NYC line but only 10 miles West of the Danbury CT line.

I was raised upstate (45 min from Albany) and I lived in NYC for 4 years. I love upstate but I was very glad when I moved to WI and got to have my shotgun back.

I grew up near Saratoga Springs. Upstate NY is so pretty. I moved out of the state in 1987 and only went back to visit my parents. They moved out of the state a couple years ago so I have no reason to go back. I couldn't imagine living there after tasting the freedom of other states. Plus the taxes would kill me.

I drive through there on the way home or at least did. The traffic is stupid on 84 now. Last time we tried it we got off just over the CT line and went North to 90. Now we run north to Binghamton then Albany and cross into VT north of there

New York Finger Lakes... between Keuka and Seneca is home for me.

You want pretty? Check out a vineyard in the morning sun after an ice storm. Gorgeous barely starts to describe it.

You aren't kidding. You go from doing over the speed limit to well under as soon as you hit the western CT line. And it doesn't clear up until you're well past Hartford.

I'm not from the areas the OP listed but I spend a lot of time working in them.

I was born and raised in Manhattan. I've lived in the Albany area since 1987. Currently reside about halfway between the Hudson River and the Massachusetts border.

I'd do the return trip as well. I was helping a friend with a bread route. Several months through winter up into Catskill through Albany into Saratoga Springs then down through Hudson and came back here down 22. I think it took 10-12hrs.
