At a gunshow last weekend, I found a dealer selling a Central No.4 range sight complete with SMLE range plate and mounting screws, still wrapped in the greased linen wrapper and with the original full factory instructions for fitting and adjusting (Printed 1939). So far I have been shooting my BSA LE (1901) with lead boolits with issued open sights but this will be a worthy addition.

Wallace,

Great find! I am always looking for old SMLE stuff. My latest find was a MkIII (dated 1911) in Excellent condition In and Out for $70.00. The best cast boolit so far is the Lee C312 185 grain RN.

You are a lucky fellow. Nice find. It looks good on the rifle too.

Is that mould good for the 7.62x 54r as well?

What a great find! You are indeed a lucky rifleman.

Here's my No I Mk III aperture sight. I've got to get around to mounting it one of these days. So far my eyes are still good for the issue sight. My issue sight does have the wind gauge feature (pre WWI) so it has been great for all kinds of loads at all kinds of ranges.

They didn't cast quite big enough for my .303 or x54r's. I ended up using that mold for .30-06 instead. The very biggest ones from my mold drop at .313" or so. In the end I got an NOE 316-299 and size them to .314 for my fat 30 cals.

Wow, great score! I used to use a NO1 mark III but always hated the sights. Wanted a Mark 4 because of the peep sight. Now you have a real fine target rifle.

I'm using a 220gn x 0.314 boolit with great success!

I have the same PH5 type sight. I don't have the screws and short coil safety spring yet though I found a spring that looks like it should work. The spring I found came from a kitchen faucet I repaired. I have another that came from the mag release of an airsoft pistol. Both are very short and very stout.

Mine sight looks nearly new, almost no wear. I did have to clean up a badly cut counter sink someone had done apparently tring to mount the sight with the wrong type of screw. I used a small broach from a dremill tool in my drill press to cut a flat bottomed counter sink that will hold a small lock washer.
I've found a couple of screws that could work, though the threads aren't a tight fit. The triggerguard sized screw is long enough that I can put a small nut on the exposed end to lock it down tight. The other is a brass screw, but might hold well enough.

I've also felt in no hurry after obtaining a windage adjustable open rear sight.

PS to above.
I meant a barrel type rotary file rather than broach, though used in the same way.
