I have a contender rifle barrel that I haven't found a forarm for. The bolt spacing is about 3 1/8".

On the barrel I built I machined it for an encore forend so I know it won't work but I picked up another rifle forend and it won't work either.

Anyone want to school me on all of the differences and or link me to a synthetic forearm that would fit?

I found this.

"centerline pistol spacing 3.125
centerline carbine 3.562"

Looks like I have a 22" rifle barrel with pistol spacing.

.

YMMV, but if it were mine, I'd use the longest of the forends you already have, popping a hole in it for each of the "off' screw locations & plugging the un-used holes with black epoxy.

OR

Use one screw/hole, plug the in-used hole & make a recess inside the bbl channel for the un-used screw boss in the bbl bottom to settle into.

If I change anything I will just machine new dovetails in the barrel to match the one I built. I was looking for a no mod solution.

Looks like a Contender fore end to me.

That's helpful, do you have any information on the differences between the different forend bolt patterns?

Why not just get a pistol forend? They make several kinds in various configurations. Do a little googling for some pics, and you should find something pretty useful, I think. The pistol forends are just shorter, but adequate for most anything most would use the Contender for, I think?

I have 3 different forends now and none fit, I am trying to not have however many they ever made before I find one that will bolt up.

I understand they made/make various configurations, just trying to not own all of them.

I suppose that would just give me reason to buy a bunch more uppers, thanks...

I'm thinking there is a difference in Contender rifle barrels from the contender to the contender G2 looks like you have a G2 Contender not the first contender G1

Hanger bar?

Going to post back that I fixed it and yes I did something similar to that, except the rear bolt was correct so I just machined a link to offset the front bolt forward.

Is that an aftermarket barrel made by VanHorn in Gilbert, Az? I have old single lug 21" barrels, 23" bull barrels, and 24" Custom Shop barrels. The same foreend will match up with the holes, the 21" has a narrower barrel channel and only one screw hole. VanHorn's 18" bull barrel takes a pistol forend.
Glad you got it modified to work.

Yes, it's a Dave Van Horn, Gilbert Arizona barrel.

And we're happy now. 5 at 100 yds the other day and about as good as I can do with 2-7x optic.
