Does it say what county it was made? Fowler will put there name on anything from high end to china junk.

good job. Way too accurate for me--I've been known to use fingers as 'units of measure'

Nice score! I'm from that area (recently moved) and have attended those shows for nearly as long as I can remember (used to be held the next big town over to the east). Always found a great deal of some sort, the older I get (just turned 30) the more exciting the deals are though if younger me were watching he would be asking why the heck I'm buying old cast iron for $5 and other boring things.

Fowler has stuff across the price spectrum. Like this $17 set.

Still fine for the reloading room.

Still fine for the reloading room. +/- .008" is a toy, not a precision tool. A Chinese dial caliper of about the same price should be accurate to less than .001. http://www.grizzly.com/products/6-Dial-Caliper/G9256 doesn't specify accuracy but I've worked in plants where Chinese calipers passed calibration several times with accuracy to within .0004".

I didn't read the add but yes that's about useless.

These are often on sale for $10.

They are suitable for any job one would use calipers for.

Ya, anytime you verify the caliper's reliability readings with a Mitutoyo micrometer bar and the reading is spot-on, means you're within 0.0001", that's probably good enough for most reloaders.;-)

Well, they only have a resolution of .0005 and how you are using them has a lot to do wit it as well. A good reason to have standards, to be able to get a feel for them but yes .001+\- doesn't really matter in the reloading world.

I got 3, 6" dial calipers and a 6" HF electro; using the standards from the 2,3,4" Mitituyo Combi-mics, all of them are within half a thou. How to build accurate enough measuring tools for not much money is well known. It's more the marketing weasels that want to make massive margins that really produce the **** stuff....you can make decent money making serviceable tools.
