I HAD one key word being had.
Mine shot well but even with 350gr bullets at 1500fps it would bring the pain.
If your not at all recoil shy I would say get one. It makes for a handi size hunting rifle. Mine did have a really short throat that made me have to seat some bullets really deep.

Thompson Encore Encore, fairly short barrel, 20" I believe, with peep rear sight.

They are great bush busters for hogs. Fast handling if I could still hunt I would keep this barrel but mine will be listed up for sale soon 32 rounds fired. I did use a good recoil pad.

The Katadin came with the recoil reducing stock. The 500S&W will still knock off your glasses if you are not careful! I have to replace the firing pin and spring in mine - have the parts, just need to get to it.
OH, the 45-70 barrel likes the Gould boolit. (Lyman 457122)

Great little package, with a BIIIG Bite!

I have shot a few black bears and deer with mine in the past. Never recovered a boolet yet!
I have been shooting a 415 grain flat point at around 1350fps. It is all the power I care to handle in this light weight package!
Most bears run 20-30 yards before staying down for good. There is always ample blood trails from both sides of the animal.

This deer was shot with the same bullet, sized down to .452, but saboted in my muzzleloader barrel (on the same frame). Only about 75 yards. Instant knockdown.
