100 yards with a Cast 550 gr GC in a 458 Lott.
Not as good as most of you guys but good for me.

Looks very good to me. Must be a shoulder thumper!

Looks good to me too. But heck that has to start hurting after a couple of shots.

Interesting read, but you might try posting this in the rifle section instead of the handgun:)

Why would I want to do that? I appreciate your advice though. Thanks.

I have a lot of respect and admiration for that caliber. I've always wanted one, but I have no idea what purpose it would serve. There are no elephants where I live and dinosaurs are extinct......but I've always wanted one.

beechbum444, you only need ONE reason, because you want it.

I really do not know what the attraction is to that caliber.....I have a few rounds that I found somewhere and I look at them in awe.

I think it's an Encore. He also shoots a 458 Win Mag.

If he is indeed shooting a 458 Lott out of a handgun than my post was out of line.

I was looking at getting a 458 Lott Encore pistol barrel but I did get a 15" 500 S&W and a 26" 375 H&H so I think I'm good for now.

I have a Lott on one of the new Classic M70's. A rechambered 458 WM that used to belong to a friend who lived on Kodiak Island year round.

Truly fun with cast.

A 550 gr cast at 1200 to 1300 FPS should be enough for whitetail.

Is that the Lyman 462560? I think that is the number. It casts a 540+ gr. RF GC. I have one I had HP'd by Erik Ohlen that casts a 520ish grain HP now. Never shot anything other than paper with it, but it sure looks cool :)

No it is an old NEI 550 GC that looks like the Lyman with a crimp groove and three lube grooves. Size at .459" depending on alloy and hardness.

Ouch!! I have a braked 375 H&H Encore that I break out when the person next to me on the range decides to rain .223 brass on me from his AR. That thing gets your attention quick! I can only imagine a 458 Lott from the same platform.

Great shooting! To shoot those groups shows you have the fundamentals down!!

Here is a pic of the 550 GC and the 515 PB. Of course the weights depend on the alloy.
These are hard, brickbat hard too.
