I bought this one new in 1987. For the last 13 years a friend has been using it. When he called to tell me that it had cracked I could not quite understand where and how. Now I see it. Two long cracks down the barrel.
There is a brass tube inserted in the barrel to help stabilize it while it was welded, you can see teh top of that sticking out of the frame.

Knowing that you can't compress a liquid, I marvel at the pressure it took to crack it,,,,,,.
or
Think he might have needed a lube heater,,,,,,,.

That is crazy it'd crack there. I do love a lubesizer with war wounds.

A friend had a similar occurrence when he left pressure on his 450 then left in in a cold garage. He came back a day or two later to find it cracked in almost the same way. He bought a replacement from Lyman and has been using it since, while I salvaged parts off of his to repair another one I had that needed work.

Amazing. I always back off the pressure, now I know there is a reason to.
