Lyman BP question

Are the locks and barrel flats the same on the .54 Plains rifLe and the .54 plains pistol? I'm thinking a rifle stock could be modified to fit the pistol to create a SBR? Crazy, huh? But I think it would hunt! Best, Thomas.

the barrel will hook into the tang but, the pistol lock is smaller & the wedge-hole on the rifle stock would be almost to the end of the pistol barrel requirin' quite a bit of reconfiguration to make things work together. I believe you'd be miles ahead on yer project if ya just cut off the rifle barrel.
