I just casted up a bunch of beautiful NOE 359-92-RN boolits for use in my .380, and when trying to size/lube them, I couldn't manage to set the ram deep enough to fully size the boolit, without lube being applied above the lube groove. The die is a Lyman, and has two rows of lube holes, and I was thinking of plugging the top row, in order to control this excess lube situation. My question is: What is the best way of plugging them? Is there a temporary way of doing it, so I can return the die to regular, when I'm using it for longer boolits? As always, thanks guys!

Never done it myself, but I've read that a piece of shot can be coaxed into the job. That said, you could take a chip of any lead, smash it into the hole down to the ejector plug and cut the excess from the outside.

I use bird shot to block lube holes and a drill bit in a T-handle to remove.

I don't have shot laying around, but there's always some splatter on the bench near my casting pot. I just peel a little scrap of lead off the bench and peen it into the hole with a small ball peen hammer. Very light, tiny taps is all it takes.

Removing the lead is just as easy. I use a nail set. Just tap the plug through to the inside.

# 8 or so shot works real well. easily drilled out, too.
