I have a 27-2, pinned and recessed. I have found a 357/44 cylinder from a 27-3. I am entertaining buying it and swapping out the cylinder so I have a new caliber to work with that only requires me to buy the die set.

As always, I welcome any input. The 357/44 cylinder is not cheap, so I don't want to buy it and then find out I cannot fit it into my revolver.

If it is not recessed, it won't work. I blew 125 bucks a few years buying a model 27 cylinder that did not have recessed cylinders and it didn't fit. Eventually I traded that cylinder and bunch of cash to get my 544 converted to 44 special, but I would have been better off hunting for a 24--it would have saved me money.

There is more to swapping cylinders on a S&W than just "will it fit." Having the existing hand exactly match the new cylinder's ratchet for aligning with the bore is iffy. Having the barrel/cylinder gap come out right is iffy too. I think you're looking at a money pit.
