What mould would you recommend for cast boolits in this caliber?

A guy asked me if I could cast for him. He's has used Woodleih 500 gr and now he wanted to try cast boolits.

Any mould recommendation? I do not know what kind of rifle he has.

I presume sizing dia to try would be 476?

Pull up the Accurate Molds web page and look on page #15. Tom lists a mold made for the .470 N.E. there #48-530E that weighs 530 gr. and drops at .477"dia. Tom will discuss any questions as to size, weight etc. if you just call.Robert

There I was, slowly stalking the massive T-Rex...suddenly, he turned! The big double rifle roared, once! Twice! Then...then...he ate me.

You really, really need to slug the barrel and find out what the size is. Modern rifles in this caliber, like the small run of Ruger No's in 470 NE, are pretty much .475 but anything that is of an old world, custom nature will show quite a wide variation. Once you find out, order up a mold and a sizer to suit. Guessing at it can end in frustration.

Buffalo Arms is where you can get iron molds...not cheap but high quality.

I love my big bore rifles. I have a Pedersoli Sharps 1877 (Was a Lyman 1878) that has been redone in 450 Nitro Express. That thing with its Kelley Soule sights will drop bombs on target with absolutely stupid frequency.
