Not sure if this will be of help, but when working up loads for a semi, I will fire a group with a known safe load, and note where the empty cases eject. When working up a different load or bullet/boolit weight, I start low and increase until the empties fall in the same spot as the known safe load. I have always assumed this meant it was operating the action with the same force, not more. Good luck, very cool gun. :)

I had an MP43 for a while, until my government criminalised any law abiding subject of the crown who legally owned a semi-auto rifle.

Case capacity is the same as for 7.62 x 39, coincidence? So powders suitable for the russian round are also suitable for its progenitor. So RL 7, VV N120 and N130. I used cast bullets almost exclusively; specifically the NEI .324-125gc Kurz that duplicates the factory bullet shape.

You cannot use the ejection pattern to assess loads with a sturmgewehr as the gas system is designed to function no matter what. The action WILL cycle and the case WILL be ejected vigorously no matter what! Chronograph is the only way to go, original (East German) factory ammo clocked around 2200 fps and I was able to get this with the NEI bullet with good accuracy. Even shot close to the sights all the way out to 600 yards!
