I've decided to re-work my .357 loads in my 2 favorite S&W's for this round.

One is a 28-2 Highway Patrolman, the other a Model 19-5.

I haven't seen much data regarding the Lyman #358429 & H110 online or anywhere else for that matter. I'll be crimping the loads for the Model 28 just over the front driving band. The average weight with my alloy is 171.0 Grs.

Anyone experienced with this particular combination? Affects of H110 on cast bullet bases? Bullet alloy is around 12 BHN.

Thanks,

Murphy

Firearm: S&W Model 27; barrel length: 5"

Lyman 358429 cast--173grs.
Hodgdon H-110
13.5 grs. Est. 1,250 fps

Some data is shown with the load going
all the way up to 15.0 grs., but I think
that is pretty stiff.

Ben,

Thanks for that info and I hope others here chime in with some more info on this topic.

I have shot a "bit" of H110 under H&G's #51 (similar to Lyman's #358

I have shot a good deal of H110 under a H&G #51 bullet (SWC similar to the Lyman #358477 - both good bullets). In fact, H110, Win 296, and WC 820 are quite similar in action and any of the three would be a really good choice for any of the magnum handgun cases (.357, 41, and .44).

There is NO base damage problem with this powder, in my experience.

Just follow Hodgdon's data and you won't go wrong.

Ruger Security-Six—6” barrel
358429
H-110…..15.0 grains
CCI-550
PMC cases
1246 fps

This combination is very accurate in my 2nd-year Security-Six. The boolits are shot “as cast” and lubed with Lee Liquid Alox. Some leading does occur at the forcing cone, but it is acceptable. I don’t shoot this all the time ‘cause it is a bit hefty, but the ol’ Ruger seems to handle it O.K. I like this boolit in my Marlin 1894C also. Good-luck…BCB
