Is anyone loading a 440 gr cast bullet to 1100 fps or so? If so, care to share your load data?

All I could find online is with Accurate 5744, but being an extruded powder don't really want to use it.

If you're looking for a low recoil load, the 15.0 grains of HS-6 load behind a 440 grain cast bullet will provide just that plus very good accuracy. I have a 5" S&W JR Model 500 and the above load produces 928 fps over an Oehler 33 chronograph. I use WLP or Federal 155 pistol primers for my S&W 500 reloads - if you use large pistol primers you can add 25 fps to that aforementioned velocity.

Those would be really economical loads. With the load density being less than 50%, does it result in any issues.

Seems like a double charge would be hard to detect as well.

Are there any slower burning powders like say Bluedot or AA#9 than can be downloaded to 1100 fps or so? I know downloading W296/H110 is a no no. Wasn't sure about the others.

A 500 would make a nice anaconda gun with say 3/4 oz of birdshot

I'm using 10gr of Unique under the Lee 440gr for a nice mild load. You can go up to over 15gr of Unique from what I understand.

When i wanted to mess with people shootin in pistol league I would use Trailboss. It worked very well with the Lee and Accurate boolits

yep, that's the ticket. For 25 yard shooting, take ANY bullet, load up to the base of the bullet with TB, then back off a grain or two. You'll be golden.
