Im Looking for a 8 mm Mauser bullet mold with more of a point on the end like the M75 Sniper 196 Grain Copper FMJ-BT Yugo surplus ammo. If they even exist..... Has anyone seen one for sale? I would like it to be 8.22mm/0.324in so i can still powder coat them and run through a sizing die. I have seen some that are 0.329in that are kinda close to the shape im looking for but thats just to wide.

I routinely size the Lee 329-205 to .325 in a Lyman 450 without any difficulty. You could size to .325 (seating the GC at the same time), powder-coat, and run back thru the sizer to obtain your desired diameter. Haven't actually tried this on 8mms but procedure works just fine for my .303 Brits and 7.62x54s.

I do the same but my 8 mms rather a fat bullet so I resize .326" in a honed lee pass though sizer.
I'm working now on shooting a NOE 340 bullet ( looks like a loverin design) Even after sizing .326" there are enough lube groove left!

You might check with NOE for their 325-216-SP

I bought this NOE 325-216-SP mould earlier this year during one of the NOE sales and sadly, I've not had time to try it. I bought it specifically for my 8mm Mausers. My thinking is that its heavy weight will help it shoot closer to the Mauser sights than a lighter cast boolit. We'll soon see.

lyman/ideal made one waay back when, I have a small sample of them here they look just like the old cupro nickel lebel rounds.
which is the same shape as the later mauser spire point FMJ's.
they are about a 9-s ogive.

I opted for a different boolit style because I only need about 2-k velocity and better terminal performance on game.

That would be the Lyman 323366. Drops about 176 grains. I've been looking for that mold for about a year now. I might just go with the NOE 325-216 though. Weighs about 30 grains more than the Lyman.

Herters ran an identical mold as the Lyman 323366. They numbered theirs as 32176 as it dropped a 176gr Spirepoint that duplicates the profile of a 8x57 Spitzer service round.

If you can't find the Ideal/Lyman mold, you might be able to find a Herters on a Ebay or other auction site.

I have the same mold and I am the same situation. I have some cast and sized but have yet to stuff one into a case.

thanks guy's.
I couldn't for the life of me remember the mold number, it has been way too long since I had it in hand.

Welcome to the board, IssuedOut.

Please keep in mind, cast boolits are more fragile than jacketed. A long unsupported ogive nose combined with a short bearing surface often results in the nose "slumping" to one side under acceleration, the boolit corkscrewing through the bore and flying off target. That NOE above has about as much long pointy nose as one could hope for and still shoot well at good velocities.

Many pointy cast boolits are intended only for low velocity shooting, such as the 30 caliber 311413 and the 8mm 320366. Drive them fast and you'll likely get huge groups.

I agree with the weight but...you have to get it up to speed to match the sights...right?
