Always wary of breaking a critical part that until now couldn't be readily replaced, I have only shot my M95/30 occasionally and with great caution. I now have a spare extractor in hand and another on the way (if one spare 80-100 yo part is good to have, why not get 2?). APEX Gun Parts has M95 extractors in stock, plus I managed to purchase a second online at ebay at a great price.

Thanks for the headsup. Seems I recall something about not trying to single load the M95. Am I remembering this right?

Couple extractors and a dozen clips and you'll be set forever.

...............I had an 01 FFL from 1982 till 2001. I was calling my sales rep at Century one day about something or other and he mentioned they'd gotten in a new shipment of M95 Steyrs that were very nice for $39 each. This is what I got. It's all matching numbers and has a beautiful LOOKING bore :-) However it slugs .316" x .335" and will swallow a cartridge with a .338" slug, yikes!

Didn't really know much about them at the time. No ammo except milsurp @ 1.47 per box of 10 with the 2 clips. Bought a bunch of that and ended up converting them to use 209 shotshell primers. Then I bought one from a guy at the range for practically spare change as the barrel was toast and converted it to 30-40 Krag:

There are no flies on the M95's action (except the trigger kinda sucks) but with a good barrel they'll flat shoot! Back in the late 90's there was an outfit called Tennessee Gun Parts that used to advertise at Gunboards.com and they had M95 extractors for $15 each. I bought 2, and should have bought more (haven't had to replace any yet). There were also a couple guys there who eventually set up to make them. IIRC they were like $28 per? In any event in a few months they weren't making any more. Don't know if there was a quality issue (wear, breakage) or what happened?
