1 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,
2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Thank you Derek ! Yes we wait for the heavens to open and to hear the trumpets . Until then we have each other, yes as a thief in the night.

Another great one Derek! Verse 10 gives reassurance to those who haven't spent the time, or had it to spend, studying, and who believe, yet falter more often in more varying ways, than those who have had the time and put forth the effort to "study to show thyself approved," or have simply not found a fountain from which to drink it like we all want and need to, in order to walk more closely with our Lord. That ain't no small thing! Many wonder and question their beliefs, when they don't suddenly become "angels" after a conversion. And there's PLENTY of things in this world that are tools of the Evil One to help them become convinced "it's not really real." But it is. And that verse gives them an awful lot to chew on to get them to realize how ANY time spent in the right places or with the right people, or reading or otherwise edifying them, really and truly is. We don't suddenly become angels when we become Christian. We're just saved sinners.

Lots of lessons in that one small group of verses, but usually, we need to have someone point them out to us until we gain the knowledge and confidence to find them ourselves. Being a Christian is a progressive proposition, and not a "magic trick" like a magician pulling a rabbit from a hat! Our God wants and lets us grow, just like a garden does, if we'll "fertilize" ourselves with the right kind of info and a sometimes new way of thinking. The world around us tries awfully hard to keep us from the light, because Satan reigns so often here on this side of the Great Veil. But in the end, all will have the scales lifted from our eyes, and we will see the most wondrous and awesome Heaven - one that we cannot, I think, yet even really conceive of.

Many lessons in this one. That's just a small one that struck me as I read it. Each verse has something in it that's golden! Thanks.
