OK a lot of people think most semi auto cases head space on the case mouth
I had another shooter at the club running his mouth about how you needed to make cases the right OAL for them to work in a pistol
So after I got done loading 223 on the Dillon 550 the other day
I changed tool heads to the 9 mm one
But left the 223 shell plate in place
As it works fine for 380 auto also
I set the powder measure to the starting charge of AA #7 for 9 mm with a 124 gr cast bullet
I then started loading 380 auto cases with 124 gr cast bullets at the same OAL as you would load 9 mm cases , loaded 50 rounds and cleaned up
This morning I was at the range and the other Shooter that though he new everything was there
So I showed him the loaded rounds
He told me there was 0.0 % chance those rounds would work in a 9 mm pistol , so I made the $ 1 bet
So I pulled out my Browning Hi Power ( made in Hungery ) and loaded 13 rounds
Well in a min or so there were 13 more holes in my target at 50 yards ...not my best group , but it went Bang every time I pulled the trigger
He stood there and couldn't believe it worked
So I loaded another mag and let him shoot
I feel that the extractor held the case in place
Even though the OD of the rim was undersized and the case to short
So when one of those , So called Experts tells you that your idea is all BS , be safe
But do some tests ....it is fun to show the Expert , he is full of hot air :bigsmyl2:
