CVA Double Barrel 12 kit gun

I have found CVA shotgun, 84 with 4numerals following on the rib. Are these guns safe and a good value. I have heard and read conflicting stories about these guns. This particular gun has an issue with the left hammer not holding at full cock, it does not click like the right side. Makes me think something is interfering with the lockwork. Opinions please.

Some of these guns were made with very soft lock parts. I have repaired two that had the same problem with the left lock. You might also see if there is an issue with the rear trigger. Sometimes just shimming the trigger assembly will cure this issue. Some folks always over tighten things. Crushing the wood, especially if it is oil soaked is easy to do. If it is wear on the sear/tumbler, Flintlocks etc. claims to have locks and parts for CVA and Pietta double barrel guns on their web site.
