I did not want to highjack Johnson1942's thread.

Does anyone have experience with the LRCx in 9mm. I am considering getting one with a 3" barrel.

I like the fact it will shoot 9mm; as brass is so cheap and it is more powerful than the .38+P.
I like the fact I do not need to pick up brass at my range.
I like that reloads are quick with the moon clips.
I like having adjustable sights.

I am concerned with using cast bullets and bullet set back with no roll crimp.

Thanks for any input

Don

I have two LCR 9mms which I really like. Moon clips are efficient and the 9mm is an efficient case, as noted more juice than a .38 Special. I don't believe there is an X model on the 9mm, as it only comes in .38 Special "+P"
I want an LCRx in .357 and 9mm for that matter. Ruger are you listening???

jmort...if you want a 3" 9mm DA revolver...try and pickup a S&W 60-10 or 60-15 3" .357 Magnum...

What I did was find an extra cylinder on ebay and sent it to TK Custom to be rechambered and cut for moon clips. Now it will fire .38 Special and .357 from the original cylinder and 9mm, .38 Super, .38 Special and .357 from the modified one. I bought the extra cylinder as the 60-10s are hard to find and wanted to keep the original cylinder original...

5 yards..DA 9mm ball.

As to the 9mm Ruger LCR...it is no slouch either...

I'm about to go & pick up my LCR in 9mm this week,,, if I can get the time. I already have one in 38 spl. I also have a few other guns that use the moons! no problems here.

The LCRx 9mm, no. Moon clips, yes.

Played extensively with 1917 revolvers.
Played extensively with a shaved Webley MKVI.
Played extensively with a Pro Series S&W 640 that can shoot its .38/.357 payload with moon clips or without.

The 1917 will stay for emotional reasons
The Webley got shelved in favor of an unshaved one I acquired later and is about to be sold.
The 640 hasn't been shot with moon clips in years.

Have pretty much concluded that moon clips are a P-I-T-A that have little place outside of WWI reenactments or run-n-gun games.

They aren't fun to load or unload, although I hear Ruger's approach may do away with the need for tools that are never around when you need them.
Like speedloaders, they are uncomfortable to sit on. . .and they're a lot less durable when you do.

If you want more boom than a .38 in a carry gun, a .357 with reloads on speed strips gets my vote.

get one and you will looooooooooooove it. with my little 38 yesterday i kept a all holes touching with off hand group at 15 yards just to show my son what this little gun can do. we then went to town and he looked and looked at the little 9mm version. he said dad, when i get back to denver im getting one of these. he loads for the 9mm and he can use his handloads for the little ruger. it is super accurate and smooth with the trigger and light and fits in any pocket. the only other gun i ever had the wants for in a small pocket gun is the sig saur mini 1911 380. check that one out. is it ever built right and smooth in its action. bigger bucks but what a gun. the two best hide outs out their and quality quality quality.
