I found a box of 44 cal ammo I loaded awhile back for a mod 29 that slugged out at .432 these are 230 gr hp lead , do you think I could shoot these in my new mod 29 that slugs out at .430 without any ill effects:confused:

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as they weren't top of the scale screamers.

if they will chamber.........shoot em.
.001 over size raise pressures like 250-300psi.

I'd say they're perfectly sized.

Winchester-Western used to sell swaged lead 240 grain SWC gascheck bullets that were .433". I shot many of them with top loads in my Super Blackhawk. I still have some of those that I grabbed up when they were discontinued, but the boxes say they're only .430".

If the cylinder throats are tight , your accuracy could suffer. Thats about all.

Yeah, but S&W almost always goes the other way, too large. The OP should be fine depending on the exact loading data.

Thay will not work, You need to pull the Cast Bullets and use Cast Boolits, Then :cbpour:

That's right, K, cast bullets are no good. I have a Konverter in my garage though, that can make excellent boolits out of them if Copdills would just send them to me:bigsmyl2:

....Assuming of course that he still has them, didn't shoot them, and still remembers. This seems to be another one of the ancient and lost mystery threads of well over two years

Good morning
I shoot most my .41īs .002 oversized to the throats. Have never seen any ill effects.

I'm glad you caught that and I was impressed by offers to repair them! :lovebooli
