Fellas, I am trying to remember who makes stag Grips. I got all fired up again about my Smith 63 .22 long rifle after all the posts in the classified section. I have never liked the grips on it and want to change them to real stag with bark showing. I know someone out there made them I just can not remember

The gun is a J Frame Smith and Wesson with Square Butt.

I thought sambar stag was no longer being imported. Maybe I'm wrong?

I am not sure myself. I want them made of antler so I guess elk could also be used?

If you need a chunk of elk horn I could probably hook you up. My cousin is a hunting guide in Colorado and has lots of them. I've had a few guns with sambar stag and it is noticibly more dense than elk antler, not that it's better, just different.

I have two sets of Elk on my two Ruger New Vaqueros. They are very nice. Love them. Giraffe on my Uberti 73s. The Elk came from a seller on gunbroker who uses the moniker bigmtnman. I can highly recommend him.
