Hoping someone may have information on RCBS mold 28-168-FN. Picked up used thinking might make good heavy weight 7MM08 round. Looks similar to a Lee 30 cal 180 FP but the front portion only cast out at about .265. RCBS does not list this number.

If it does't work PM me as I am looking for a 7mm heavy.

It takes a #530 Top Punch. I don't know what the model number of the mould is. I have been looking for that information myself.

I had to look it up in the catalog. The old version had groove diameter bands all the way to the nose; worked great in the 28 Long Neck (30-06 sized full length in 7-08).

the whole nose is 265?
or just the flat point.

the nose should be 280-281.

With gas check and PC it is 1.244 OAL with neck portion .560 long and .265 in diameter with one coat of PC. Groups are all over paper. Lee 130 sized .285 and .277 will hold 1 in or smaller all day when holding to same pressure loading.

Bama, that mold sounds like a good candidate for having a nose job!

You are right. Has anyone been successful increasing the nose size by roughly .016 inches ? Thought about trying to mix PC with 600 grit silicon carbide powder and PC nose only and size to .277 to make a lap to increase nose only. Not sure if it can work removing that much material and still maintain alignment. My lathes are manual and I know my limitations so turning that amount is out.

Wow. That's more than I'd try.
I'd send it to Erik at hollowpointmold.com

That sounds like the design I had.
The 28LN loved it.
