I have a SFB of used 44 Mag brass I want to give away.
It contains at least 150 used nickel plated brass. I will try to find more to fill the box completely.
I was given this brass, so I know nothing about it. It appears to have been fired several times.
I would like it to go to a new shooter or someone on a limited budget.
Let your conscience be your guide.
I trust it will go to a deserving person....dale

Gosh I could use some. I just scrapped a bunch because idiot me didnt clean the die and scratched a mess of brass. And I had to send my die back to rcbs becasue whatever it is thats scratching my brass wont come out no matter what I did.

I would be most happy to give it to a reloading friend of mine who is off the forum? He is looking for brass for his M29 he rec'd from his father. His funds are thin as he's just gotten out of a rental and only just swung a down payment for a house. Would this be OK?

I hear the short funds Kestrel4k, got my 2nd little one on the way any day now but Im not contending with a new roof over my head. I have a few hundred rounds loaded so Ill withdraw my request for the fella whos got his dads 29. Ill rebuild the load I lost little by little, this time WITHOUT SCRATCHES lol.

oops sorry paraord, didn't mean to try to jump in line - skimmed the thread as quick as I could before posting to get a place - have missed out on freebies before by not posting fast enough lol.

No worries kestrel4k, I know what it's like to have your old man's gun. I don't have much but I can offer some boolits to your friend if he would like. Pm me an address and I'll mail over 100 429421's to him to get him started it. I can do either sized to .429 and lubed or unsized. Just have to cast them this weekend.
Or if he would rather 100 429244 sized 429 and gas checks already. At least those I won't have to cast haha. :)

All he will need is powder between these cases and my boolits

Thanks for the offer on those as well; it is doubtful that he has bullets or boolits. He is in the process of moving so there certainly wouldn't be a rush. I confess to not being an expert on the best .44Mag CB's, so whatever you think most appropriate would be great?

He does have a good powder selection (hand-me-downs), I think I recall seeing some opened 2400 and 4227 in his cabinet. And he has the dies from his father as well.

But I certainly don't want to hijack this thread for his sake though - however I know he would appreciate the OP's brass as he's really thin on those; he has gotten ~50 empties from me as starters.

I don't want to drift this thread too much, but generally, this happens from nickel plated brass being sized and the nickel plating flaking off, it will get embedded into steel dies...which I assume you have? Carbide dies shouldn't do that, but I could be wrong?
This has happened to me, with a Lee 223rem FL size die...I had to replace the die body.

I had a stuck case, one time, and I dinged the die as I was trying to remove the case. I called and told RCBS what I did and sent it to them. They sent me a new die.

Returning to OP, that is a generous offer and I applaud your offering.

Yep, steel die. But I've only sized 12, yes 12 nickel plated and I lubricated the bajeepers out of them before sizing.
I sent the die back to RCBS on Monday, should have arrived on Wednesday, and I haven't heard anything yet. We shall see. Until then I am sorting a large pile of scratched and not. Course it was on the backside and a course I wasn't looking at that spot. Lesson learned!

12 nickel cases...lubed up good...doesn't matter if one of the cases had nickel plating that was flaking off.

Here's my 223 story. I bought 2K Speer nickel cases super cheap. They had crimped primers that were a real bugger. I had deprimed about 100 of them with the Lee universal decap die. I didn't have a small primer pocket swager, so that project sat. Til one day, I decided to FL size a few for dummy rounds, one of them must have been flaking and I didn't notice? I made those dummy rounds and put the dies away.
Then a few months later, planning on loading a batch of LC brass, I FL sized the first one, it scratched the heck out of it. I removed the die and cleaned it, lots of silver particles came out. I sized a second one, all scratched up...third one, same thing. I looked into the die after another cleaning and I could seen particles embedded, That's when I remembered the few nickle cases I sized months earlier and I had read about this happening to others...I didn't even try to fix the Die, I just ordered a new die body from Lee.

While applauding the generosity of the OP, I must also comment that I have FL sized hundreds of STARLINE nickel .44-40 cases in a LEE steel die and have had no problems whatsoever. Plating quality??

I just wanted to add a final note to this thread with thanks to the OP dale2242 as well as paraord.
Before I handed the components over to my new-to-reloading friend, I fully prepped the cases including trimming & priming.
So all my friend has to do to get started now is to charge & seat/crimp.

He of course wanted to convey his thanks as well.
Best regards,

Applause for the OP, yer a good man! I've given away a few piles myself, and later on ended up with a gun in that caliber and needed that same brass myself. But Karma always provided it!
