I fell in love with the old slab sides over 50 years ago when as a kid of 17 I went into the army. Today, under my pillow rests a 1943 vintage Remington Rand 1911A1, if the need should ever arise, (pray never) I know it won't fail me.

I agree with the sticky idea, that is just too cool, and VERY useful!

That was neat. It makes it all look so easy. Animation was good, too bad it didn't show the disconnector pushing the trigger bar down. Other than that looked flawless:drinks:
P.S. not bitchin just an observation.

Very Nice! New to the 1911 community could'nt resist buying the new Remington 1911 R1. Can't believe how the price continues to increase. Looking forward to see how it does once the spring comes around!

There is a mistake in the assembly, you can't put the thumb safety in with the hammer forward, it has to be back in the cocked position. :D

Hello NSP64,
I may be mistaken, but I do not think that the disconnector "pushes the trigger bar down". The disconnector is pushed down and "unhooks from the sear" it only "slides down the rear surface of the trigger bar". I think that it is shown correctly.

That's pretty cool. Every 1911 owner should see this if they plan to take their pistol apart and put it back together. BC

The barrel link pin on those is tapered a few thousandths. I thought that they had to go in from left to right. It loos like this video shows it going in from right to left. Am I missing something? Or am I just mistaken?

uh, how can the trigger bar be pushed down? :-) when the disconnector is pushed down, it disengages the sear. When the disconnector is "up" in its notch in the slide, the sear can be moved by pulling the trigger. The grip safety's tang contacst the back of the trigger bar, so that the trigger can't move unless the grip safety is disgaged or disabled (ie, the tang is cut off)

Overall, given the occasional oversight it's pretty good. They also left out the kink right in the middle of the plunger spring, that is the only thing that keeps the plungers in the tube when you remove the thumb safety..

D'Oh!! What breed of barrel is (was) that? I suppose it would be repairable for a plinker / target gun. But I'd be buying a new one. I'd solder it back on and fill it with lead as a training aid (and fill an old mag as well).

Wow, that was very nicely done. I am not a 1911 guy but I could use something similar on a lot of the old rifles and pistols I have acquired! 3D computer animation has come a long way.

I cant believe the 1911 nor the M1 Garand,,,,,,,,both of them go together without screws. No screws in it except for the grip panels.
How do they do that??? Who thought of that?? Did they figure it all out inside his head before he drew it on paper???
Geez !!!

MOst military weapons of the day were the same. The Mauser strips completely using a bullet nose for example.
