I finally did it. I have wanted a 1911 for a long time but just wouldnt spend the money. I tried to buy a Springfield Loaded Commander size in stainless but my FFL couldnt order one, his supplier couldnt get them. I called around and never did find one. Then I checked a store that had a deal on the Kimber Pro Carry HD.
Its a steel Commander size in stainless. I bought it for less than the Springfield I was looking at and all it didnt have on it was the night sights. I figure I can add that later.

Dont know if I did anything smart or not, I plan to shoot cast in it. I ordered a Lee 200 gr. semi wadcutter mold. I have read about some of the 1911's not cycling these bullets but others like em. I am gonna try them and will probably go to a Lyman mold in a 200 gr. semi wad cutter. Any suggestions?

I'd like to find an old H&G 68 mold, I'll keep my eyes open but I understand that Lyman makes one real close to it. Any suggestions on loads?

I think Ballisti-cast still makes the H&G #68 mould.

The Saeco 68 (bevel base) and the Saeco 69 (plain based) are almost exact replicas of the H&G. The Saeco shoulder and corners are a little sharper than the H&G. You can actually put the Saeco in the H&G mold with a little finger pressure. If I remember right, the H&G has a little deeper lube groove.

We have shot thousands of the Saeco 69s in 5 or 6 different 45s and they all shot the boolit well.

That said, I got a 6 cavity H&G 6 cavity and am switching to that as soon as I finish up shooting the Saeco bullets.

You'll find the Lee ( 90348/90310) a close copy of the H&G also. I'd love to have an H&G 6 or 8 or 10 cav for the # 68 boolit but I can afford the loan payment!

If your Lee 200 SWC is the 90348/90310: the meplat's a good bit smaller than that on the H&G #68 and its clones, so requires a longer C.O.A.L. to feed reliably. 1.266 (+.003 - my Hornady micrometer bullet seater likes to unwind itself during use) works in any 1911 in which I've tried it. Very accurate boolit.
