Is there someone on the board that casts these to sell? I've got a friend looking for the 200gr version to try in his rifle.

I have never seen a 40cal real boolit

Buddy said that it was a custom job.

That looks like what he described but said the driving band closest to the base is .395-.398".

Did you have a mold made for that boolit?

Tried working with a couple of 48" twist Green Mountain barrels. One 28" long, the other 38" long.

Tried .41 wadcutter, SWC and round nose boolits sized on the hind end to match my bore and engrave on the rifling up front. Turned them into miniature maxi's.

Tried .40 caliber.

Tried paper patching .41 Colt boolits.

Tried a short hollow based semi-wadcutter "minie".

I never did get it right.
I'd be zinging them down range and getting excited and then get a flyer.
Looking good, looking good oh boy oh boy... then another flyer.
Shooting plenty good enough for deer hunting if that is the intent. Good grief, those are one inch across the flats GM steel barrels and with a hard card wad and lube cookie over the powder we're talking .41 Magnum performance.
Couldn't get it to be dependable enough to enjoy plinking though.

So, I still have one Green Mountain .40 barrel for some low priced plinking.
I got a 16" twist .40 Rayl barrel for high priced plinking.
And I'm liable to get me a really useful .40 barrel with a twist somewhere in between with rifling made to play with all those .41 mag molds. I might even spring for a false muzzle and put one of those Malcolm reproduction scopes on it. But to hunt deer with it in Indiana the bore would have to be at least .44. So, I don't know. Maybe a second cup of coffee is a better idea.

I tried a 38-40 bullet for deer hunting in my 40 and had the same problem. Several good shots in impressive groups and then a bad flyer. Of course the only deer I took with it was a flyer and it took several more shots to finish the job. Never deer hunted with that rifle again.
