Had a challenge from a friend at the range his win 94 in 44 against my 94 in 357 ,beat him last week at 100. So according to computer estimates 22 inch drop .tried a few rounds to check ,actual drop 36 inches .then we shot in completion put 9 in a 10 inch circle ,don't know where no 10! went my error .we both use scopes old eyes but I surprised my self .great fun !

I really enjoy the leverguns at extended ranges. They closed our 200 yd range a couple years ago and now the best I can do is 175 on a 12" square steel plate at our sporting clays field. I'm shooting the Lee 125 rnfp@1220fps in my Rossi 92 and the drop is about 22"( from a 100yd zero). When we had the 200 yd range my best 10 shot group was a little over 5" and that was with the Lee 158 TLSWC@1180 fps.

Using 190gr rcbs sil mold doing about 1250fps range is an old railway tunnel very dark at 200 even with spot lamps on the targets at that distance.this fun though

I use my 357 Marlin cowboy to shoot CLAS. The 200 meter rams are a bit challenging when you have to shoot at them standing on your own two feet, and only a knock down counts. I find that if I do my part the 360640 bullet, cast at 175gr and pushed to 1750fps by a healthy dose of 4227, LilGun, or similar will knock 'em flat most of the time. A Lyman 66 receiver sight and Lyman 17 front sight give me enough elevation to switch between Trailboss loads at 50 and full snort loads out at 200.

My Marlin 1894 rifle does well at 200 yards with 180 grain RNFP boolits over Lil'Gun powder. A Lyman 66 rear aperture sight has plenty of elevation slide to get there.

A while ago a club member had set up a target at 200 metres (we were shooting levers at 25/50 metres). Out of curiosity I thought I'd have a couple of shots at it with my 44-40 '92, using a min. load with TrailBoss. After a couple of ranging shots, with someone spotting for me, I actually managed to hit the target!! The hold-over was pretty high and I was shooting off-hand so I was feeling pretty chuffed. Oh, and using stock iron sights.

Good fun.

I wish I could still see iron sighs in our range ,outdoors OK but in the tunnel no chance.just impressed as I couldn't hit anything off hand at over 50yards.

glow in the dark paint.
my little 45 colt carbine has the front sight on the barrel band and it's bent.
I painted a dot on the front and a dot on both sides at the rear.
then I drifted the rear over to compensate for the dot.

it works very good in the sunlight, and I can see the front dot in the low light.
without the dots the bent sight is super noticeable.

Heh last time I shot a levergun at 200 was with some of those Speer 200gr "flying astrays" in .45 colt over 22.0gr of 2400. I was using a 94AE Trapper and the holdover was several feet. Sun was behind me and you could see the reflection off the back of the boolits when they were flying was pretty comical.

If you think that's funny, consider the 1911 has something like 14 FEET of boolit drop at 200yds.

My Rossi 92 in the 45C will shoot 1" groups at 40 yards,Measurments taken with eyeball and guessing.

I've done about 250 yards with my Winchester 94 trapper in .45 Colt hitting one of my AR500 plates. Iron sights and just lobbed them in with 250 grain lead. Didn't hit every time, but when I did you could see the plate swing big before you ever heard the clang of the lead hitting the plate. Talking about putting a big smile on. [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]
