so i have this pistol...the poor thing has had some +P supers shot through it.
not many ...but just enough to bend the bushing out of shape...(see drawing)

i bent it back to straight but after 30 shots of mild loads thru it, i can see that its bent again.

i'd like to buy one if possible....i possibly could make one, but i'm sure it would be a headache.

anyone know anybody with parts?

p.s.

would i need to use hardened steel if i make one?
would plain old 44 stainless be strong enough?

Do you have any hot rod shops that can send off the bushing to be hardened. Sounds like it lost it's temper. You might try Sarco, they at one time had parts for a star. Otherwise maybe ebay.

Once yours is fixed, or you find another one contact Wolff spings for a stiffer spring. Yours may be wore out.

That is an indication that the spring is stacking, to long when fully compressed, check the slide travel closely.

can you elaborate what is stacking?
what do i check on the slide travel...it seems to move just fine.

i really don't think this gun was ever shot too much ....minus the few +p's that went thru it.

You could try getting it red hot with a torch and then dropping it in a can of oil to harden it. What's to lose? Walkingwolf is correct about Sarco being the last known seller of these pistols and parts. Get 'em while you can....the photo below shows one that I purchased without an extractor back around 1999. It took two years to locate one.

What SOFMatchStaff means is that,
when the slide is in full recoil,
instead of the slide bottoming out on the frame (as it should),
the recoil spring (coil spring) is compressing until it is solid
(no space left between the coils) and this is bending the barrel bushing.

I would make sure to get a new spring for it, see wolf, etc.

also bend back the bushing until it is straight,
then heat red hot and quench in oil.
let cool.
