I've owned a Browning High Power for 5 years or so, suppose I've fired a hundred rounds thru it. Never liked 9MM and this Browning being a 1993 gun has the magazine disconnect; well, no more. It is out and gone; now it will fire without a magazine in place. The trigger is a big jump better too. Nice gun but not a nice cartridge.

I thought the same thing until I got a Range Officer in 9mm. Love that gun, and made the cartridge fun to shoot as well. Just as budget friendly as the 38 special, and with 2 young sons, picking up brass is still easy. It does tend to grow on you after awhile. Even have a carry gun in 9mm now too.

Can't stop loving my browning after I did that and replaced every spring on my gun. What a machine. Gives you a good chance to clean that old girl w whatever and now I can take mine apart and put it together in half a hr....did it twice

I hate 9mm, the 9mm fits perfectly inside the 40 and they stay there until you pick them out by hand, even after being tumbled. 9 mm have a life long goal of hiding inside a 40 cal throughout the cleaning process right on to the loading press, just to be tossed in the garbage.

randyrat........I agree with all that and I dislike 40 even, or at least just as much, it does the same thing to 44 cases. I've had a number of 9MM guns; S&W 39, Taurus 99, Beretta 92, Norinco sompin or other, and this HP. They all worked, but they were still chambered in 9MM: all fall down!!!!

I am learning to love the 9mm. I am a 357 mag fanatic and I collect S&W revolvers. I am also partial to 45 ACP and 45 Colt.

But my sons are 9mm guys and with this years tax refund I bought a CZ PCR. It is a compact version of the CZ 75.

The more I shoot it the more I like it.

^^^ I have slowly come to appreciate the 9mm. Efficient as it gets. Can get around 450 ft lbs out of it. Fits in a tidy package. Some of my molds do double duty in both .357 mag and 9mm. I really like the Ranch Dog 135 grain RF. I agree with what he says:

"I have no doubt in the ability of the bullet in self defense shooting. I have killed a number of "man" size feral hogs with shots through the rib cage, behind the shoulder and the bullet does what it was intended to do."

I love the HP, currently saving for one NIB.

I have had my Belgium Hi-Power since 1975...shoots like a dream.....carried it on duty for years and had the magazine disconnect taken out in 1975.....put XS-sights with the big dot.....it is a shooter and a keeper......

AND all them 40 S&W pretending to be 45 ACP lurking in the gravel at the range!

Now you know why the older guys shoot 45s their sausages for fingers don't like anything smaller than a 45 acp. My fingers are turning into sausages also and I rather enjoy loading 45 vs 380 or even the 40. 9 mm just irritates me picking the little Turds up. Good lord I'm gaining age on some of you old fart's
