Got this mold a while back, in FP configuration aluminum. Casts decently with COWW alloy, really nothing special. Mold performance isn't the point of my post though.
Got it with intention of loading for USPSA type competitive shooting, so needs to be accurate beyond 20yds. So far have only tried it over Bullseye, recoil impulse is amazingly soft with under 3.0gr, but accuracy flat sucks at 25yds, no keyholing but barely holding to a 8x11" target paper, until I hit 3.0gr which I load 147s at and well heavier bullet + same charge = more recoil.
So did anyone ever work up any loads for this bullet that performed at 25yds+ they'd share?
Have a few powders on hand to try yet. And may also try some air cooled instead of water dropping. Might even give PC a go. Open to suggestions, thanks.
Already read this thread http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?278539-Elco-tc-hp/page5 part of what motivated the purchase, no one ever posted any results past 30' though.

I am still using the same powder charge I described on page 3 in the thread you linked. Unfortunately, having me shoot beyond 10-15 yards is an exercise in futility unless I am using one of my long barreled revolvers or a rifle. I think that the load I use would work just fine at 25 yards if I were capable of good shooting at that distance. My 64 year old eyes and the associated shakes just don't allow it to happen though.

Thanks Tazman, I might give that a go if TG doesn't work out, and I can find some AA7. I was hoping to work something with a faster powder but it may not be in the cards.
The accuracy is odd, no keyholing but non linear dispersion, groups fairly well to about 18yds then gets really wide, which leads me to think that it is not stabilizing well. Would that be a plausible diagnosis? I would blame me if it weren't for it performing much better at 3.0 and my old standby Lee 356120 TC load grouping just as well as always immediately before and after.
Was thinking maybe at the low charges it's not obturating well? No leading to speak of. Thoughts?
Hopefully the weather holds and I can try my other loads, and other barrel this weekend.

I cast the hollowpoint version. At 65ft i get softball sized groups behind 2.8 grains of red dot. Seated at 1.075.

I keep seeing reddot come up for bullets I shoot, my be time to get some.
PROMO is an inexpensive RED DOT clone...$112 per 8 pound bottle.
I started with 4.0 of PROMO with LEE 356 120 TC about 10K rounds ago in GLOCK 17, 26, and 34 a year ago. I recently bought a NOE 357 135 RF. It runs with 3.6 of PROMO. I have KKM and STORM LAKE barrels in my GLOCKS for lead friendly, brass issues, and improved accuracy.
I'm thinking on a heavier mould around 150 grains..the performance reviews look good, but don't know if it's worth the drain on the lead supply.

I switched back to my 120b TC mold from Accurate to try to conserve lead after casting maybe 5k of the elco hp. I regret it. The recoil and accuracy of the elco makes it worth it to cast. Besides, you use less powder. Im not saying the 120b is a bad mold or boolit, it produces good range fodder. I just prefer the elco.

Well got out to the range, tried my OEM G17 barrel. All groups improved some.
2.8gr of Titegroup shows some real promise. Next to try it in the Lone Wolf.
Need to get my hands on a chrono, thinking it's a bit hotter than I need.
Still plan to pick-up some Red Dot or Solo.

I don't have that exact mold but a sim Redding #398 TC design, comes in about 160gr. I get great accuracy in my 1911/9mm with it at 9mm minor vel of 820fps. It just doesn't feed well in my 1911, so have put it aside. I use WST or RedDot, 3.1gr & 3gr respectively. On good days I can hold under 3" offhand @ 25yds.
