Good Day Gents,

I have been trying to come up with a way to brighten up the bore on my 720 Savage 12 GA. (Browning A5 copy). Well today I was watching as a vendor was blasting a piece of equipment for me and the thought occurred to me. 'Why not load some shells with baking soda?' I was thinking a weighed charge load of baking soda using fiber wadding would do the same job as soda blasting while going down the barrel. Am I crazy? :?

Regards,
Everett

No, not crazy, but why? If it shoots, so what! Otherwise, rub simichrome, jb paste, motor-mica, over fully lubed boolits/slugs. ... felix

Felix-

The reason is this barrel tend to develop plastic residue past the dark spot in the barrel. I'm thinking if I "smooth" it a bit it will reduce this headache.

Everett, just rub it out. I have done it using simichrome. Takes a little elbow grease, but it will come out perfectly if so desired. If no gun rubbing stuff on the shelf, use car polish with the fine grits alread employed. ... felix
