I have to ask. Did the POTUS order it to be flown at half staff? The flag code is very clear about this.

POTUS has ordered flags to be flown at half staff until sunset on Tuesday. Thanks for remembering the Flag Code. http://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/headlines/20160709-obama-sets-record-ordering-flags-fly-at-half-staff-in-honor-of-dallas-ambush-victims.ece

I asked because I see them flown at half staff quite often because of something that happened locally. It seems very few people know there is a flag code.

i am ashamed to admit I didn't know this. Our flagpole broke ~2 months back and I have neglected repairing it. Think that will be pushed to the top of my list now. Thanks yall.

Just got back from the local Wal Mart, and though I'm not a big fan of theirs, they did have their flag at half mast today. I was glad to see that, even though I know it's due to "company policy" rather than real, deep emotion. It still matters, even then.

for anyone who hasn't reviewed their flag code lately. I put the flag at half staff the moment I heard that 5 police officers had been ambushed by a terrorist.

Perhaps flying the flag half mast upside down would be appropriate at this time in our history . This country is in for a rough ride coming up quick .

I have seen that mentioned, and at least know what it means. I am awaiting the results in November to make that decision. Until then, i will respect the tradition and fly old glory proudly.

Making more of a statement actually , not a recommendation .

I've seen people flying it upside down from time to time over the past eight years. I can't really argue w/ them.

I'm hanging out in Cody, WY at the moment and the flags here have been at half mast since the morning after the shooting. From what I gather folks around here could care less what POTUS thinks, they did it anyway.
