It's been years since I bought a bullet mould. After posting my problems with my 9MM in 115 grain, I'd like to try a heavier bullet. My favorite brand is RCBS, but they don't offer 147. I also want to stick to "flat base" not gas check style base. I see that SAECO makes some heavier offerings. Any body have ideas of others? Any new makers of moulds? I have some Lee moulds, just not a big fan of them. My last mould was a "Lyman" ... it seems their quality has slipped since the old days, this .40 cal mould was not finished to the former quality I had seen 20+ years ago.. Ideas-? Thanks! Jon

Looking for a 135 to 147 gr. heavier 9mm bullet too. Prefer a Lee 6 cav. for a IDPA load 125 power factor. afish4570

I recommend NOE molds. They make one listed as 358-155-TC(ELCO). It can come with hollow point pins. When used with the pins it drops at 147 grains with my alloy(range scrap).
There are several threads about this boolit on this site that will show up if you search tc(ELCO) or just elco.
It shoots extremely well for me in my 9mm guns.
If you would like to try a 135 grain boolit, NOE makes the 358-135-FP. This is the most accurate boolit I use in my 9mm handguns. It is available in a 5 cavity mold.

RCBS makes a 147. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/233874/rcbs-2-cavity-bullet-mold-9mm-147-fn-9mm-356-diameter-147-grain-flat-nose

If you need a fatter boolit, http://www.midwayusa.com/product/463418/rcbs-2-cavity-cowboy-bullet-mold-38-140-cm-38-caliber-358-diameter-140-grain-flat-nose

I'll second tazmans recommendation.... I've the elco mold also and once I finally got it esp coated, it works well. (or regular lube worked well also.) behind 2.8gr of 700X it is quieter than purchased subsonic rounds thru my G17 or PPX and my suppressor..... Just cast and coated a couple of hundred more today... Right at 150gr with the deep hp

I've got this one
171990
And there are several other designs too in the 135-147 range.
Both Accurate and NOE are great molds.

I have the Lyman one of 147 and do not have any problems with it but had it for years now.

Is the mihec stepped like the elco for use in short leades? Brass or aluminum?

If you have to have at least 135gr, I like the NOE 358-135-FN. I have a 4 cavity in aluminum. I'm using the hollow point pins and dropping 126gr from something I mixed up approximating Lyman #2 alloy. As a solid you should be right around 135gr. This mold has made accurate boolits and both the 124gr Lee TC and the RN molds have been at least as good. They're both 6 cavity aluminum molds and cycle better though I have a TC cavity that runs fatter than the other 5. Annoying.

Here's a few of my most recent casting.....NOE 358-135-FN with HP pins. They weigh 126gr. You can put the other pins in to make a solid flat nose and get 135gr.

I know the FBI went back to 9mm in 147 gr but are the pistols up to handling the load??
I use the Lyman 124 gr with good results.

I've recently received a new 147gr 9mm mold from Accurate Molds. I can't wait to get my bench setup in the new house and get to casting with it. It is a powder coat mold so it has no lube grooves and it's listed as 35-147Y I believe.

Saeco #928 sized to .358 with scrap lead, I'm getting 148 grains out of it. I powder coat by shake and bake, has been great in my 1911 based 9MM.
2.9 grains of Titegroup gives me 134 power factor.
