OK, I've accumulated a half of a 5 gallon pail of assorted stick-on wheel weights. Some seem like lead or lead alloy, some do not. A few seem to have rust on them, although it may be nothing more than brake rotor dust plating on to them.

What have you folks found to be the best way to use these? I'm assuming that there is Zn in some of them.....

Thanks,

DanZ

I have found iron, zinc, lead, and ww ones. Test with a magnet to eliminate the iron ones, the zinc ones have been marked with zn, so far, but I test by squeezing them with pliers, the zinc ones are very hard. The ww and lead ones are relatively easy to imprint . Also, if they are zinc, they will float on top of the melt long after the lead and ww have melted. If you let them melt, the melt will be a raised bead on top of the melt, and will have to be stirred in. DALE

Thanks, Dale

I will run a magnet through the pile and let the rest float. I did not see any marked Zn, but I didn't get out theloupe, either ;-)
