I just got this mold to try out some boolits in my 03a3. Does anyone have any favorite loads they use and what kind of accuracy have you achieved with it?

not that exact boolit but 18-19 grs of 2400 does right well in my 03A3.

Both my Mosin's and my Yugo SKS love it.

I was thinking about trying in my Yugo as well, what kind of powder are you getting the best results with?

In a M44 Mosin Nagant, 24 grains IMR 4198. Best load so far for that particular rifle.

I cast those and size to .311. I shoot in my 308 over 13 grs of Red Dot, BBL lube 2X, for range fun. My hunting load is 30 grs. 3031 lubed with MML+

Both would be MOA loads with an expert operator.

I like to use that mold for my m1. Sized .310 atop 36 grains of 4895 seems to cycle reliably and is a soft shooter. Maybe 3" or so at 100 yards (good enough for my purposes).

same boolit for any milsup that is close in bore diameter, 4895 is always the start and usually the finishing line.

Same bullet same kind of rifle sized mine .311 on top of 17.5 gr 2400 with unique 11 gr and 14 gr were my sweet spots those three loads always gave me great accuracy .

The Lee 312-185 sized .311 and the old load of 16 gr.of 2400 in my 03-A3 works very well and is probably my most accurate bullet - powder combination.

Thanks for all the tips. Since I can't find 2400 locally I am going to go with 4895. Boolits will be Lyman #2 alloy, GC'ed and lubed with some White Label Carnauba Red, with a top coat of BLL. And sized to .311.
I have been thinking about trying 4198 as well. Might as well pick up a # of that too.

try 29-30grs of the 4895.
if you see vertical stringing drop the load down to 28 and add some Dacron.
4227 is pretty good in the 0-6 too, 20 or so grs usually does well.

Can I use the same load for this in a Mosin if I'm power coating vs lubing?

Obmi: size matters. One of my two Mosins can barely chamber a .311 bullet; the other is happier with .314. Start a new thread of your own and rephrase your question so others here with more knowledge and experience than myself can reply.

Sounds like your on the right track.

My Lee sizing die .311 was pushing them through at .310 so I polished it out with some sandpaper or steel wool on a dowel till I started getting steady .312.

Hard to go wrong with 4895 IMO especially if you are willing to start small and slow and walk the ladder up till you find good accuracy.
