Found out the hard way scrap lead is up in price. Paid $1.00 a pound for old roofing lead. My question is---do any of you shoot WW in Pedersoli 45's ?.
So far all I have used is 25/1 lead tin. Have an old pal who will give me probably 5gal. plus WW. should I try them. I tend toward the " big" boolits 500 gr.+ in my 45/2.4 with black.:coffee:

Wheelweights work fine. Just need to pay attention to bullet fit, and use a good lube.

WW will work fine. I do anneal the castings by placing them in the oven at *450 for one hour and allow them to cool naturally. Typically the BNH is 8-9 and that is soft enough for BP.

I use wheel weights for all my black powder loads but have found that they work best when mixed with soft lead 50-50 in my rifles.

Thanks for the replies.
I size when I lube.
Baked Brass::::::::::: a neat idea.
50/50% May try that after I smelt the WW.:drinks:

I worked up a load for my 45/70 Sharps using stick-on wheel weights. I alloyed them at 30:1 with reclaimed pewter and the bullets weighed the same as my 25/1 Pb/Sn mix. They shoot 1 1/2 MOA with 69 gns of Wano PP compressed .200". This is the same as my expensive lead/tin alloy.
Give it a try, you just might like what you get.
