I am trying to remember the title of an old movie I saw a long time ago. The main character is double crossed by his girlfriend and partner and left in the desert to die. He is injured and has trouble walking. The dialogue is an internal monologue as he struggles to survive. One line involvers putting pebbles in your mouth to fight thirst and he says something like "tastes like I made it up". After being hungry for several days he shoots a rabbit with his revolver (looked like a model 10) and a coyote gets the rabbit before he does. The movie is not a western no horses or hats, but takes place in the west. Anyone know the title?

I think I have seen it, too, back when this sort of movie was on TV all the time. Hope we get an answer.

I had to search the title but from your description I remembered Robert Ryan and the devious wife. Amazing the things you remember or did I see WAY to many movies in my lifetime?....lol.

The boyfriend searches for him, to make sure he is dead, in an Ercoupe. Very distinctive tail structure.

Robert Ryan was a great actor. I remember that movie but haven't seen it in forever. Might have to find a copy now.
