Didn't know where else to post this. Any thoughts or complaints about this shotgun.

Sounds like fun, who makes it? I know Buffalo Arms imports one and I believe Cimarron does as well.

I've not seen one, but Chiappa makes a few versions too: http://chiappafirearms.com/products/82

I have one. A little stiff at first, but use smooths it out. I also have a replica of the 97 hammer pump. Ran into a smith that did work on pumps for the cowboy action guys. Slicked it up real nice.

Always wanted a lever shotgun, so when they started coming in grabbed one. Haven't regretted it yet.

I shoot SASS with a couple of guys who use them. With practice, they're very fast when loading two rounds, but it does take some practice.

Hope this helps.

The Chink guns need work to eject right and they are really made for 2 1/2" shells. I have slicked them up adjusted the triggers and re set the ejection and then they work fine, but that $350 dollar shotgun will need an additional100-150 in work by someone who knows the score to work right and if you load your own loading 2 1/2" shells will really make the difference. I have heard that the Chiapps suffer from some of the same defects but no one here wants to spend that much money.

Thanks for the response guys. Thing strongly about getting on. Couldn't be much worse than the Chaparral I had rework.

Agree. You will want to tune these guns. Evil Roy sells tuned shotguns as do some others.

With mine it hates federal hulls , works well with 2-3/4 AA hulls trimmed and roll crimped .

Shotgun like that using 2 1/2 inch shells you should look at brass cases.

No on brass cases unless you have a crimper for the shells. If you reload brass cases and use either waterglass or DAP to seal the over shot wad they can come loose under recoil and a load os loose shot in the magazine tube is a BIG no no. The rolled crimp also assists in the feeding process.

Here is a short video of a young lady shooting the 1887 shotgun. She's single loading, but most people double load them, just like the double barrel shooters:

Never mind the silliness in the video. Jedi Knight is known for it, but he's a kick to shoot with.

Hope this helps.

Yes, in the past (those major issues should have been corrected by know) those Norinco 1887 had some issues...

Had a Cowboy Shooting buddy that bought a norinco when they came out.
Fought with it, had LEE's Gunsmithing work it over twice. Finally sold it at Auction.

The Chinese ones are junk!

You guys need to give up with plastic hulls. They dont work! I have an original and plastic works 6/10. Brass or zinc shells work fine. Make sure to lube everything up nice.
If my elevator and mag tube isnt lubed, it will have trouble feeding.

repros are exactly the same as originals. Some have a few modernized parts in them, but thats it...
